Teachers Day

In India, 5th September is celebrated as  Teachers' Day  as a mark of tribute to the contribution made by teachers to the society. 5 th September is the birth anniversary of a great teacher  Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan , who was a staunch believer of education and was a well-known diplomat, scholar, the President of India and above all, a teachers. When some of his students and friends approached him and requested him to allow them to celebrate his birthday, he said, "instead of celebrating my birthday separately, it would be my proud privilege, if 5th September is observed as Teachers' day". From then onwards, the 5th of September has been observed as Teachers Day, in India. In the year 1965, some of the prominent students of Late Dr S. Radhakrishnan organised a gathering to pay obeisance to that Great Teacher of repute. RBI to launch new Rs 20 notes, this is what they look like The Reserve Bank of India will soon be issuing new Rs 20 notes. The notes will come in a greenish yellow colour and will be a continuation of the Mahatma Gandhi series. The new notes will have a motif of Ellora Caves on the reverse, depicting the country’s cultural heritage, a press release by the RBI said. While the base colour of the note will have be Greenish Yellow, it will have “other designs, geometric patterns aligning with the overall colour scheme, both at the obverse and reverse”. At the same time, the press release also clarified that the previous banknotes in the denomination of Rs 20 issued by the RBI will continue to be legal tender. Apart from a portrait of Mahatma Gandhi at the centre of the note, it will also have the denominational numeral 20 written in Devnagari script. According to a new study, millions of people are using '123456' or 'qwerty' as their passwords. While we would have all at some point used these as our passwords, its high time we change it. The study says that these passwords are the most hacked ones as it is widely used. According to UK's National Cyber Security Center (NCSC), 23.2 million accounts that were hacked used the password '123456'. The second most used password is 123456789; the top five also includes 1111111. PFRDA working on minimum assured return scheme for NPS subscribers Pension fund regulator PERDA  is working on a minimum assured return scheme (MARS) for subscribers of the flagship social security programme -- National Pension System.  NPS  is a contributory retirement savings scheme and seeks to inculcate the habit of saving for old age among the citizens. NPS, having an asset under management (AUM) of Rs 2.91 lakh crore, had subscriber base of 1.21 at the end of January.  Theregulator is in the process of designing and developing MARS, according to a document of the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA). Some aspects, including what kind of guarantee -- absolute return guarantees or relative rate of return guarantees (sector and benchmark-based) -- can be reasonably provided by the pension funds with recommendation of suitable proposals, need to be examined, said the expression of interest (EOI) floated by it.
